Skyhouse was exactly what we wanted. A bit of luxury, a hint of nature and not too far from London. We stayed in the Blue Room which was just lovely. Claire greeted us and showed us all around the house. She was warm, friendly and happy to help. The floor to ceiling windows and the luxury touches really made this a nice stay. I had a bubble bath in the big bathtub and even used the useful smart TV to make a Skype call to family in the US. The breakfast was divine and a real highlight. I had a breakfast bowl which was so yummy and my partner had a cooked breakfast which he said was very good and cooked well. Charlotte who cooked the stellar breakfast and created the breakfast bowls was also so kind and happy to tell us more about Lewes.
We wanted to move to Lewes after exploring the town which is a 5 minute walk from Skyhouse. It is the quintessential English town and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring all the shops. We ate at Bill’s in town which we enjoyed. We wanted to go on a walk across the Downs and Claire gave us some good advice on the best way to go to Glynde, a neighbouring town. The walk was exactly what we wanted. It was gorgeous and such a treat to walk right out the back of Skyhouse and be on the Downs. It was a lovely sunny day and we took many photos of the green rolling hills and sheep. We ate at the Trevor Arms in Glynde which was also very tasty and the staff were friendly and happy to tell us more about Lewes/Glynde as well. We then decided to take the train from Glynde back to Lewes as the weather had turned a bit colder. This was quite easy.
Highly recommended if you are searching for a short break and want to escape from the city but not too far.
