“Sky House has views to make the heart sing. It’s only ten minutes’ walk from Lewes town centre but right on the edge of the Sussex Downs with a breath-taking panorama. I only spent one night at Sky House but it felt like a mini holiday, tranquil, enjoyable and deeply relaxing. The rooms are very luxurious, the ensuite bathrooms resemble elegant mini spas, and the breakfast was a veritable feast with a fantastic choice of fresh fruit smoothies, tasty breads and delicious jams. An exquisite experience.”
“What an amazing way to spend the Easter weekend, a bedroom with panoramic views over Lewes, delicious smoothie bowl breakfasts and a gate in the back garden leading on to the South Downs. Thank you for your hospitality Amy, Jim and Charlotte!”
“Up on a hill overlooking Lewes, this purpose built, one off, eco design is a stunner. Super dog friendly and totally accessible for wheelchairs (so carefully designed, they don’t even need ramps) this is a little cracker of a B&B. The beds are super comfy and the bathrooms slick and luxurious, the shutters and lights are all controlled by dinky remotes which don’t need a physics degree to use. The outside space is carefully landscaped, with a pond and decking area for each room. Open plan kitchen and sitting room all look out over the stunning view of the South Downs. A perfect place to use as a base for walkers, cycling or seeing the various National Trust properties nearby (particularly good for Bloomsbury Group shenanigans as Virginia Woolf holidayed nearby and her sister took up with a group of artists nearby (Omega Group)). Lovely hosts and amazing breakfasts. Fabulous.”
“I am only on my first day of a 3 day stay but am delighted to have found such a beautiful, amazing location to reside. The only pity is that at soon as word gets out, this place will be booked up for months in advance. I enjoy doing my bit for the environment where I can but stopping in a carbon neutral building is a first for me. This Baufritz designed home is simply stunning and I am enjoying every minute here. The rooms are spacious, the views breathtaking and it really has to be seen to be believed.”
“We booked the Skyhouse at short notice as a break from our own home renovations and to enjoy some peace and quiet. We couldn’t have chosen anywhere better. The accommodation, linen, bed and bathroom facilities were absolutely first class. Best of all were the breakfasts and the hospitality of both Claire and Amy. Nothing was too much trouble and both ladies genuinely wanted us to enjoy our stay. Claire made table reservations for us at places that had been recommended and was helpful in making suggestions for walks. Lewes is a delightful town with lots of independent shops and the surrounding countryside is scenic and interesting. To return to our chic accommodation at the end of each day just added to a very special weekend. We will definitely be returning, although I suspect that being able to book at short notice will be not be an option in the future as word spreads. We will ensure we plan ahead and get our next booking in soon!”
“The best possible place to stay if going to Glyndebourne. Fantastic View. 3 superb luxurious rooms. Charming and efficient service. Excellent breakfast. Only 10 minutes from Glyndebourne. Direct access to walk on the Downs. Sadly it is likely to be booked up constantly in the future.”
This B&B is unlike any other, with beauty, comfort, views and friendly, personal attention, it feels like a home from home, but with breakfast prepared for you. Delicious healthy smoothie bowls were my choice, but another guest had the full English and my husband stuck to his muesli. Every detail has been attended to and it is a delight to stay somewhere where the ecological, aesthetic and comfort values are equally high.
“We have recently returned from a fantastic stay at Skyhouse. We don’t know why we are letting everyone know about this gem, it definitely won’t be a secret for long. As you drive up to the house your first impression is “wow!” as you take in the view, and that’s what you continue to say if you are very lucky to stay here. It’s like floating on a cloud – beautiful, supremely comforting, fabulous eco-design. Wonderful, caring hosts, fab breakfasts. We would love to return. Pure bliss.”
“Five star luxury in a state-of-the-art eco house. This place is fabulous – a skilfully designed, ultra modern, and gorgeous high-tech house with a fabulous view over Lewes and the South Downs. The rooms are beautifully appointed and very comfortable, and the host clearly has attended to every detail with great care. Opening the blinds in the morning to reveal the sweeping gardens and stunning view was an absolute delight, and I was able to relax in my enormous bed and admire the vista through huge picture windows while sipping my morning tea. Breakfast was a further delight, beautifully presented and including a heavenly fruit smoothie. The interior decor is also extraordinary, full of striking sculpture and pictures, and the layout is such that the interior of the house seems to merge into the garden. I can’t wait to come back in the warmer weather, and enjoy sitting out on my private patio with a drink. Altogether a wonderfully relaxing, luxurious – and nourishing – stay!”
“Plainly the pictures on the website show an amazing house, but they don’t give you an idea of the position, which is awesome! And the atmosphere – the little personal touches, the gorgeous art and decoration and the comfort factor – squashy sofas, kitten soft bedlinen and towels, a wet-room I didn’t want to step out of. And the view! I’ll never forget sitting on our bed as the sun went down behind the South Downs, the lights in the distance twinkling like stars through the huge glass wall of the bedroom. Breakfast was delicious (and also looked fantastic!). We had a wonderfully relaxing stay, even though it was short, but we intend to come back. I suspect we will have to book well in advance when others find out about this gem.”
“My favourite B&B ever – Skyhouse is stunning. To be able to participate in the movement towards sustainability and zero carbon footprints, while surrounded by beauty and attention to ‘things that please the soul’… it is magic. A perfect place to rest and rejunvinate. My favorite thing was to walk into the beautiful town of Lewes and know that my evening would include watching the sky change colors from a super beautiful restful place…the team at Skyhouse is wonderful. It is clear that hostess owner Amy has created something unique…close to London and the Downs walking trails. Yum!”
“This is quite some B&B – if I could rate it 6 out of 5, I would. It’s beautiful: appointed to perfection, the linen is a marvel, the pillows superb, the healthy breakfasts a delight. And on top of it all, you get to feel good about the environment, what more could you want? Location of course! Everyone is so welcoming. We spent four nights and did some great walks from the garden gate. I suggest the circular walk to Glynde, onto the excellent Ram Inn in Firle for lunch.”
“From the welcome to our departure, Skyhouse was a wonderful experience. Beautiful house and grounds, gorgeous views high above Lewes and out to the Downs, and luxurious rooms. Amazing breakfast. I wish there were something critical to say to make this review seem more credible but it really was perfect. We will definitely come again.”
