This week we’ve been selecting the interior design and it’s been a huge thrill to dream up visions of how everything will look. We’re just at the beginning of this creative odyssey and already we’re enjoying imagining which aspects of this ‘Grand Designs’ luxury guest house our visitors will love the most. On our shopping list were flooring, kitchen and lighting and to help us, we’re using local Sussex based companies Chalk Architecture, Woodworks of Lewes, Stone of Destiny, and VBK Lighting .
We’ve spent many hours poring over scaled up floor plans and walking through the finer details of our guests’ experience of staying overnight at Sky House Sussex. It goes something like this…
Picture the scene: you’ve just enjoyed a ramble along the South Downs Way or maybe played a round of golf on Lewes Golf Course – both of which are right on our doorstep. You approach the front door of the guest house under a covered glass over-hang. Boot-scraper and dog-washing facilities are close to hand. After dusk, motion sensors will illuminate and guide your pathway. As you enter the guest house, you walk into an entrance lobby with pale natural stone flooring and an illuminated wall of 3-Form in eco resin (recycled and biodegradable material). This decorative and sustainable building material brings nature inside. Our chosen design has a pretty oriental influence which is reflected in other parts of the guest accommodation.
From the lobby, you walk into the spacious communal living room where you can sink down into the large, welcoming sofa to gaze out of large picture windows at glorious views towards Lewes and the South Downs. The stylish open-plan living room includes the guests’ breakfast area which is separated from the kitchen by a gently curved oriental style screen. The lighting design throughout the house will be ambient and soft, creating a feeling of relaxation and calm.
After an exhausting day, make a beeline for your luxuriously appointed guest room with its gorgeous reclaimed oak floors, deliciously warm with underfloor heating. Luxuriate in your stylish en-suite bathroom before hitting the hay in our fabulously comfy beds with cosy sheepskin rugs either side.
Sounds tempting? Come and visit when we open early next year. We can’t wait to welcome you and show you around.
